Community and the Land

The land will be used by Nuestras Raíces and the community to have cultural, environmental, educational an community building activities i.e. our annual Harvest Party, a Festival of Nations culinary exhibition, cook outs, and to host tours of school children, college classes, and interested community groups. We will prepare an area in the midst of the farmland and by the river that would be conducive to events, with a stage and large tent available at these events. We will all learn about the river, forestry, community development, and different culture's heritages of agriculture and food.

This piece of land means that we now have a safe and beautiful place for cultural events and activities. It also is space in which we can build pride and preserve heritage of Holyoke's Puerto Rican community connected with New England's legacy of agriculture and natural beauty, build understanding and common purpose between races and classes in Holyoke and the region while working on projects that will improve the physical, social, and environmental condition of our city.
