JIBARO Festival July 9 – Celebrate Puerto Rican Heritage
July 9, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
FreeCome join us for a celebration of rich Puerto Rican heritage, history and culture at our first JIBARO FESTIVAL!
Jibaro refers to “a Puerto Rican small farmer, rural worker, or laborer especially of mountainous regions” and the culture connected to life on the Caribbean island.
The jíbaro values and way of life are oftentimes associated with the rich heritage and positive culture of Puerto Rico, as well as with the authenticity, resourcefulness and craftsmanship of the Puerto Rican people. These values and way of life include a sense of community, family, and hospitality, and are closely tied with the agrarian culture of the island.
Our festival includes a traditional PIG ROAST, a FARMER’S MARKET, and TRADITIONAL PUERTO RICAN FOLK MUSIC (played on the Cuatro). We’ll have activities for the kiddies, games and much more fun. Music performed by Parrandero de Villalba y Su Fuerza Tipica.
